PROCESSING GC though a differrent company

Hi,
Can any one tell me , If I can work for a company "A" in their H1B visa , and process my GC all along with Company "B". Do I have to join Company "B" at any point of time ?

Here is my problem. MY 485 and 765 are being applied though company "B" in Texas Service Center. I had done the finger print for both last month . MY H1B which is with Comapny A, is getting expired in Ocotber 15, its applied for renewal based on approved I 140 of Company "B" on August 23 in California Service Center .
1. What are the chances that the H1B (I129) will get rejected for this Company "A" , "B" issue.
2. And if it does get approved. Do I have to join Company "B" at any oint of time , or I can work for company "A" and my GC will go though all along .

As per my understanding employment based GC is for a future job. So I guess you are okay. However, H-1B is for the sponsoring employer and once approved, you have to work for them.
