Processing Dates Info.

The N-400 processing dates on the CIS website, for Baltimore, MD office, moved from September 26th to mid-November 2003. But, one of my aquaintances who applied in March 2004 is called for interview in October 2004. Furthermore, he told me that his would-be wife applied in February 2004 and passed the interview on September 10, 2004.

My question is that would it be reasonable to assume that Baltimore was processing the February 2004 cases in September 2004. And, March 2004 cases in October, 2004? That said, the CIS website is basically irrelevant at best. I am curious to get feedback on this question because I am sending my N-400 to Baltimore on September 27. Finally, I assume Baltimore is taking an average 6-8 months to get it done!!!

Wondered the same question myself

LUNAmoped,

I have wondered the same question. Here's the thread where sg_orl made an interesting observation

I get a feeling that for CIS to post older dates serves two purposes

1. lowers expectations so that when processing is done in 10 months instead of 12, it seems great
2. keeps more applicants from getting anxious and bugging them for status on their case. And if one does call, they can then just point to the date and ask the applicant to wait.

My two cents worth!
