Can anybody please tell what's the difference between the two?:

My passport stamping states: I-551 Processed?

I have not seen "I-551 approved". Have you seen it anywhere?

Anyway, I-551 is nothing but Green card and I think "processed for I-551" means stamp is temporarily issued in-place of actual green card.

the reason i got confused because today i went to the DMV in South Carolina, they sait they will except Stamp that said, will accept, "I-551 processed and I-551 approved".

I haven't seen approved. Secondly, they said that they'll issue the license for 1 year only. I thought that sucked. So i left because i did not want to get paper license in interim for 1 month and loose a photo identification.

Third they said that we no longer need to change, "valid for work with INS-authorization" on social security card for driver's license purpose.

I do understand that we need to get the new SS cards, but i think i will wait for actual plastic cards(green cards) to avoid any confusion as DMV gives license for 5 years if you have actual plastic card.
