Process for H-1B VISA employer change

I know there is a transfer process but I wanted to know the experience of people who have done it. Supposedly as soon as the new company applies for the H-1B transfer, I can start working for that company.

How bad is it? What is the process, forms, etc? Should I just approach the new company and ask them to file for an H-1B transfer?
 
Hi,

It took me 90 days for transfer, but once you get the receipt notice (which I got in 10 days after applying for the transfer) from the BCIS, you can start working for the new company. The attorney of my new company just asked for my school, college records, my last 2 pay checks and my resume as far as I remember, but the attorney you are going through must have a clear idea about the documents and forms. Hope it helps.
