Procedure for tranferring off TN to Spouse

Hello, first post, apologies if this could be found elsewhere.

I am wondering what the best procedure should be for transferring from a TN to a spousal visa. I am a Canadian citizen working in the US on a TN visa. I
have recently become engaged to a US citizen, and we are wanting to handle this transition off the TN properly to avoid any problems. I have read a little bit on the TN and am concerned with it being a non-immigrant visa - mine will expire in April, and am concerned that my reapplying as I usually do could be construed as a fraudulent application with my being engaged with the intention of immigrating.

Thoughts?
Thanks very much!

1. renew your TN in april, preferably with a mail in. if you choose to renew the TN at a POE, don't mention anything about your engagement. it will only complicate things.
2. once you have the new TN, get married ASAP.
3. Then with at least 180 days left on your TN, file I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765.
4. do not leave the US until you have approval of the I-131 & I-765
