Guys,

My lawyer is insisting that when I come back from my trip abroad I should use my advanced parole.

Could someone who has returned from abroad and used their advanced parole tell me what happened at the airport?

Thanks.

Show the advance parole at the Port of Entry. They will ask you to either go to a different counter or a separate room. They do a check (may be to confirm your pending I-485 etc) and will let you go. Although I carried just a photocopy of my pending I-485 receipt notice they never asked for it. All I used to give were the I-94, Passport, Parole, and Customs Form.

If you have a valid H1 visa (especially if the visa is valid beyond 1 year), I suggest you enter POE showing your H1. Otherwise, use AP to enter. I-94 is issued with a validity of one year only, if you enter through AP. Please be aware that DMVs, in some states, create trouble to issue/renew your drivers licence if your I-94 validity is one year or less than one year.

My Experience was same as Yankee_Boy. Out of three AP's that I gave them, they took one and returned me two. My I-94 was stamped untill the AP's expiration date.
