Problems travel out of U.S. with 485 approval no stamping yet?

Hi,

Will there be any problems to travel out of U.S. and come back with AP while my 485 has been approved (approval notice not yet received by me or attorney), passport has not been stamped?

The reason is that many think once 485 is approved, AP is no longer valid. Then, what to use to travel if I have to? Anyone has similar experience?

Thanks.

No problem....

According to our lawyer, AP is valid even after AOS is approved. And, I just did so. Here is my experience.

I came back to SFO from Asia with AP, after my wife got our I-485 approval notices at home. The custom officer looked at my AP paperwork. He didn\'t ask any question but nicely direct me to the "INS Secondary" at the airport - a small room at the far right side of SFO custom. No officier escorted me. I just walked alone. I was the second guy in line in the INS Secondary room. I had no clue what\'s wrong with the young kid in front of me. INS officier seemed not happy with his case. It took me 10 min to bypass his case. The INS officier knew AP procedure well. She checked my file on computer and stamped my AP quickly. But, from her computer, she couldn\'t see if my I-485 was approved or not. In fact, she still thought my old H-1 was valid. And, I told her about my I-485 approval etc. She and her co-worker chatted with me that they might meet me again when I get my PP stamp at SF INS. Anyway, she and her co-worker were quite nice to me.

You may have to wait for a long time if there are many tough cases in front of you at the INS Secondary. Don\'t be scared by how they handle those tough cases - some of them are really "illegal entry". Just dress nicely and put your documents in order. They will be nice to you, and let you enter the US quickly.
