I am sorry for posting a new thread for social security problem, but I have tried to follow some advices you guys gave to other people with the same problem but nothing worked for me. I am so pissed now and don't know what to do. I got my SSN back in 2002 with restrictions on it. Now I find out that we asylee are eligible for non-restricted SSN. When I went to the local SSA and show them my I 94 they said it was no longer valid and ask for some more evidence. I went back second time with the approval letter I have from INS, and they said it was to old and it's not what I need. When they ran my SSN through the system it showed that I am only temporary permitted to work here so they would not change it based on my status.
I am sorry for the long thread but I really need some help, any response will be very appreciate.

Try, try again

Did you try everything that were suggested by different memebrs to me when I presented them with this question?
Like Office of Refugee settlement, complaint to Baltimore office, trying a different SSA office. Also, you can get a new I-94 and it wouldn't cost you anything because a bad date on your I-94 is USCIS mistake not yours.

I did try almost everything except getting a new I 94 and complaining to Baltimore, because I live in Florida. I don't know I am so confused.

Ing82,
They refused to issue you unrestricted SS because of two reasons:
1) Your I-94 has an expiration date stamped on it.
2) Bureaucrats in the SS office were too ignorant to accept your asylum letter as a proof.

Try to bring your approval letter (the original) along with unexpired EAD, if you have it.
If not, then your other option is to apply for a new I-94.

To Peach.

Good afternoon.Do u happen to know why do they issue I-94 with expiration day on it?Mine says "September 10, 2004 POM4". But I recieved it in September, 14.
4 days after expiration???

I’m sorry, Minsk, but I don’t know why they put expiration dates on I-94. Several people on this forum have this problem, including Ing82. I remember she or he said so in another tread about DL.

If you have en expiration date in your I-94 and you got your SS recently, then what sort of supporting evidence did you show to SS office people?

To Peach.

I showed them my I-94.Actually I applied for SSC as soon as I recieved my I-94.But the officer said that it's expired.I asked how could it expire if I had recieved it a day before that. Then I showed my EAD and it worked.I presume this is the day of issue not the expiration date.Do u think so too?

"indefinetely"????

It must be the spelling taught at Al Qaeda training schools, from which Shamshon graduated with highest honors.
