Hello,

I applied for asylum and I got my social security that says i'm authorized
to work with the work authorizationand and i got my work authorization.

The asylum was granted a year ago in a court. I got a letter signed by the
judge. Later I got my I-94 but I have not recieved any legal letter.

My conserning is that i went to the social security to clean my social
security beacuse it says it says i'm authorized to work with the work
authorization and they told me that they can not do anything until a get
the letter. How can i get it so i can clean my social security?

Also as i know, once the asylum is granted , i do not need the renew the
work authorization, is this right?

Thank you

i got my asylum from the appeal court

all you need is I 94, i did the same thing, i went to the social security dep
and i changed my card all i did just show them the I94,

the person who told you to bring aslum letter i an idiot,

try to go back and speak with different officer or speak with the supervisor,

i thing the social security website or some immigration website mention that
all you need is to show your i94 card to get new social security,

just download this information , print it, and then take it with you

Do you mean that the asylees can only show their diver licence and social security to the employers to prove their eligibility?
In the county where I live, most of employers insist to see a proof of citizenship, green card, or EAD.

COLOMBIA PR IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT

Colocolo

This is not a County law is a Federal Law. When you fill a W-9, that's the elegibility for employment form, they give you three colums, and you have to choose between 1 document from colum A or two documents; one from colum b and one from colum c.

The GC is listed in colum A so if you have one, you don't need to add a second document, but if you don't have a GC you can show SS# without restrictions and your drivers licence.

That will sufice to demostrate that you are elegible to work.

Again, read the two documents I posted. One if from the Social Security Office and the other one is from USCIS.

yes, Asylee don't need work permits but there have several useless and dumbass secretaries and receptionist who dont know the law and keep asking for GC. It happened to me on some of my job interviews, thank God that i always hold on to my Asylum Approval letter which states i dont need a work permit.

Hi,
I wanted to contribute to this issue of employment eligibility.
While Asylee dont need a work authorization card to show during hiring you need a prove that you hold such status as an individual authorized to work in the USA. Unrestricted SS card and a drivers licence are not enough when you are an asylee. The reason is that in the W-9 form there is the first item which asks you if you are an American citizen/national and for that case if you say yes Drivers Licence and the SS card are enough but if you choose to fill the second box it asks if you are a lawful Permanent Resident and if yes you need to put your Alien number. The third box asks if you are an alien authorized to work until when and those who have a work visa, authorization card, asylum letter fills that. Of course for asylee are indefinite unless those in special cases and have conditinal cases. The employer has to verify that to cover themselves if anything happens. Your I-94 showing your asylee status, letter or stamped passports mostly for delivative should serve the purpose.

W-9 is a TIN request form. The Employment Eligibility Verification form is I-9.

I can't speak for every asylee, but in my household no one ever had a problem with using a clean Soc Sec card and driver's license.

For some reason though, USCIS doesn't publicize this fact enough. When we went to an INFOPASS appointment recently, IO asked me why I haven't had an EAD since 2004. I said that I didn't need it since I am an asylee with a clean Soc Sec card (got EAD condition removed when BIA decision came in). IO said it wasn't true, so apparently even they may be misinformed.
