priority date from 2B to 1 category

Hi, try to help a friend. he was petitioned in 1996 by his GC parent. He was unmarried then. So he falls in category 2B. Now he is married and has a kid. His parent becomes citizen now. He should fall into category 1.

Is that possible to change from category 2B to 1? which form?
Does the priority date for category 1 stays as 1996 or starts from now?
Can he add wife and kid into his parent's petition?

The moment your friend got married the old petition under F2B is considered terminated.

If the parent had become USC before the friend's marriage then the old petition would have converted to F1 and then F3.

Now a new petition under F3 will have to be filed.
