Priority Date for Derivative Applicants

In employment based cases where the I-485 for a dependant was filed separately and after the principal applicants case was pending for a while (such as in the case of marriage after I-485 filed but pending, and/or birth of children etc.), is the derivative applicant PD the same as the PA, or is it the date of their AOS filing? This is a big issue now with retrogression - if any of you can point me to any discussions on this subject I'd appreciate it.
 
I am afrad thats true. :( My PD was feb 2001 and i did a FTJ for spouse. His pd is also feb 2001 :( . trying to find other alternatives to egt hime here
 
the only suggestion I have is to investigate the possibility of a B-1 multiple entry visa - my understanding is they are not that hard to get these days and I'm sure he could find a business reason to come to the US (invest in a small startup etc etc.)
