Priority date current but processing of receipt date is not

Friends,
My priority date is current ,but my receipt processing date for I-485 employment based is not current. Should it be OK to call USCIS to check how long it will take to process my I-485, or should I wait till the processing dates for CA service center becomes current. Will there be any impact on my case if I make the call earlier. I was reading in one of the posts that normally one should wait till the processing and priority dates are current.

OK, but not useful

It won't hurt your application if you call now to ask, but you won't get any more information than you would get from the automated online status. I think they tell you things like "namecheck pending" only once your receipt date is 30 days past what they show as their processing date, and that's when you can start worrying about contacting congresspeople and such.
