my I-130 got approved recently. (wife, a USC, filed for me may 2010)

the problem is when i look at the visa bulletin for my category it shows priority date of august 2010 (spouse, category 2a)
does this mean we cant file an I-485 until the visa bulletin shows a current priority date?

i have tried to read about priority date and its confusing me for a few days now.

i just want to know if we can file I-485 this week or if we need to wait

If your wife is a USC, the visa bulletin is NOT FOR YOU, spouse of USC is not limited by the visa number and a visa is available for you as soon as the I-130 is approved.
You made a mistake by not filing I-485 concurrently with the I-130 because you were supposed to do that if you are going to adjust status in US.
File the I-485 immediately and attach the copy of the I-130 approval along with other required documents of I-485.
You can also send the EAD form and a form for AP with I-485 as the fees for both are included in the I-485.
2A Category is for the spouse of a Green card holder and not for the spouse of a USC.
