Prior lie and moral character question

Hi everyone,

This question is for my sister who came to the U.S. in 1999. She entered the country with a different name and date of birth. When her husband sponsored her for green card, their lawyer applied for some waiver which technically 'forgave' her for using a name and birthdate that were not her own. The waiver was eventually approved and she got her green card which reflects her real name and DOB more than 5yrs ago. She cannot locate any paperwork concerning that waiver.
Now that she wants to apply for citizenship and the lawyer had already retired and she cannot get a hold of her. She ticked yes for Question #24 which reads:"Have you ever lied to any US Govn't official to gain entry or admission into the U.S.?" Since she has no record of that waiver, how can she explain this situation? If the prior “lie” was cured through a waiver, would it still have bearing on moral character?

Thanks in advance.

They have a copy of that waiver. And As long as she informed the officer when applying for her permanent resident status, just as you stated, then I believe that she should be fine.
