"Awaiting approval" - Please check my other posts for my case details.
I got my GC stamped at Newark, NJ office this wed.
Experience:
I reached around 9 at this office. No line to get in.
My approval letter said go to room 334. There is no room 334 anymore. The guard asked me to go to 13th floor. I went there. The security guard there said I cant let you in - come tomorrow you dont have an appointment. I showed him the letter and said it has an appointment for wed between 8 and 12. He said it doesn't say which wed, I cant let you in. Come back tomorrow if you have an appointment.
Then I went down and asked the security guard again. He saw the letter again and said
go back to 13th flr and ask why they wont let you in. I went there again. The guy again said cant
let you in as no appointment. Luckily at that time an officer came out. She saw the letter and
said go to 2nd flr they will give you another appointment letter, then come back up.
I went to 2nd flr. After a bit of frustration it was a cakewalk. The lady there called me.
Asked for my passport, EAD, parole, approval letter and my lecense. There was no line here either.
She stamped my passport in less than 5 minutes and said you can go home. This is valid for one year.
You will get the permanent GC in mail before that. She took fingerprint and signature on a form.
She said this stamp is you temporary GC which can be used for business, travel and identity.
I was excited and left. I dint check the stamp in detail. Later I realized that the stamp has some
hand written information on it which includes eac number and the alien number which should match the
approval letter. In my case she made a mistake in writing my eac number on this stamp.
I dont know how big an issue this will be to get the GC in mail.
Right now I dont wanna think about it. Just wanna relax. My wife got an RFE. We havent received it yet.
When I go for her stamping I will ask about the false eac number on the stamp.
I then went to social security office (on 10th flr I think). The lady here asked which city you live
in. I am not in the local arae as Newark so she said you have to go to your local office. I then
went to the local office. Lady there asked for I94 on passport. I kept explaining to her this is
the GC stamp and they took away they I94 today. Another lady there knew what the GC stamp is
and took my application and later called me and said you will get the new SSN card by mail in
2 about weeks.
Guys no matter what room your approval letter says. Go to 2nd flr at newark, nj office.
