My case was approved earlier. My spouse's case status was updated yesterday. The online message says that the case will be transferred to the Local Service Center in San Francisco ?

Any ideas what's in store for us next ? Do such kind of cases have an interview ? If yes , what kind of documents do we need for an interview ? Do I have to stick to my employer ?

maverick 1976,

Did u moved to California ? I have the same message after waiting for 2 yrs.

On June 15, 2004, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER for processing. Our office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 to receive information about local office processing times.

My RD : 08/2002 - NSC
Transferred Date - 06/15/2004

Thanks,

ubhavsar, I did move to CA but my consulting company is still under NSC. My case was approved (RD : Sep 2002 , AD : June 2004) , my spouse's case was transferred to the Local CIS Center.

Since they want to clear the backlogs as soon as a possibe , the transfer cases to the local CIS centers. They believe that the local centers can process these cases much faster.

Btw , did u have an RFE on your case ? Have your FPs expired ?

No I don`t have any RFE. My case say it transferred to California Service Center - Not office. Any idea ? In your wife case does it say it transferred to California Service Center or Directly it transferred to SF office ? Does these mean your wife must have to attend an interview ?

Thanks

Cases transferred to a local USCIS office usually mean interview. Strange to get the primary approved, but the derivative transferred and interviewed though. It could mean something didn't seem right in the application, anything from medicals to gaps in status, but it's weird that they didn't issue an RFE instead, especially in light of approving the primary. If you are using a lawyer, you might want to get their advice. Did you get married recently (i.e., within 6 months prior to filing 485? Did you file separately or on the same date?... those are some of the things that can trigger investigation from other posts I've seen here on the forum).

Marriage certificate I think!!!!

You guys might have got married after the primary applied for I-485. You might have added the derivate later. Or vacinations due, due to pergnancy etc...

you guys are right ... I applied for my I-485 when I was single and then added my spouse about 4 months later.

I submitted all the necessary documents with my spouse's appln. I guess they would call us in for an interview , just to verify that we are still married etc. Any ideas what's the timeline for this kind of case ?

wik .. What do they mean by "Receipt Date" mentioned on the website ? Is it the original RD on the I-485 appln. or is it a new RD that they issue when the case is transferred to the Local Office.

Your response is greatly appreciated !!

maverick 1976,

I got a transfer notice today for me. My case transfer from NSC to Laguna Neigual for speeding up my case. I see the same Receipt Number as my original I 485 receipt number. They did not give me a new receipt number.

Hope that help.

ubhavsar .. Well lets hope thats true.

The letter you received is from NSC right ? I hope the local service center at Laguna Niguel doesn't send you another letter with a new receipt date. (the day they recieve your case details and start processing your case)

Sorry, I am just too cynical when it comes to the USCIS.

yes u are right. I got a letter from USCIS that your case has been transferred to laguna neigual for faster processing. I have not received any letter from laguna neigual office so far in a week.
Did yr wife got a letter from NSC and SF office as seperate letter ? Means first notice from NSC about transfer and 2nd from SF office ?

At the moment my spouse hasn't received any letter(s). I guess it takes about a week for the letter to arrive.

What's the usual practice ? Do we receive another letter from the Local Service Center too ?
