Prevailing Wage Question

Hi There,

I am working at a University on H1B. The university is filing Green card application for me. The prevailing wage request my employer filed for my PERM application came back with a salary rate about $5500 higher than my current salary.
The employer sent me a new contract with the new salary and then cancelled it in a few days saying that they don't have to pay me the prevailing wage until I get the Green Card, which, for me being from India will be at least 5-6 yrs.
Can anyone tell me if the employer is correct in saying they don't have to pay me prevailing wage that came with perm application until I get the Green Card.

Any comments/advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes. The prevailing wage is relevant to the job offered to you as the basis for the GC process, not the job you currently hold. Once you get the GC - they have to pay the salary they stated in PERM, or they'll be breaking the law, until then it's just on paper.
