Does anybody did prevailing wage survey by youself? How to do it? Does all the silimilar companies give the wage info?

By the way, my title is Chemist. my prevailing wage return shows that I'm level 4 wage for BSc + 5 year+ experience. That wage is far way too high for an environmental chemist. Anybody has any suggestions or experience? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I am not sure but with Bsc. and 5 years experience, you may not qualify for EB2. If that is correct, you can just reduce the experience needed and level and PW will reduce accordingly.

I did the prevailing wage from california EDD. Basically you fill out the application form for the state and fax to them. You have to provide a contact person in your company (could be HR or whoever you are dealing for your perm process).

A friend of mine had higher prevailing wage. According to him
1. U can use this survey as long as the company pay u this salary at the time of green card is obtained.
2. U may have to reduce the experience to get lower wage. however, you may not qualify for EB-2 with BS degree and plus less than 5 years experience.

thank you both for your suggestion.

what I mean the survey is I am not aggree with DOL pervailing wage, so I will do a survey by myself. In a environmental lab, chemist pay much lower than in biotech and pharmceutical, but only one title --Chmeist--. So the DOL use one prevailing wage for chemist no matter what kind of bussiness you what for. What I am trying to do is do a survey on environmental lab, and give that result to DOL.
I am not sure that what said is clear or not. Any way, any of your suugestions will be appreciated very much.

DOL does accept alternate wage surveys but there are lot of criterion to the acceptable surveys. I tried going that way for my PERM. You would need to find a scientific wage surveying company whose surveys have been accepted by DOL in the past, make sure that they have survey results for your geographical area, then pay top dollars to buy those surveys to attach to your PERM and still there is no guarantee that it will be accepted. Also till you buy the survey result from the company, you may not even know what the wage is according to that survey. There are lot of varaibles. You would need to work with a very knowledgable attorney whi has successfully filed LCs with alternate surveys in the past.
Also I guess hiring a professional company to perform survey for you would be extremely expensive.
You obviously can not do survey by yourself. It would be like a company auditing its own books. There is a conflict of interest.
