Pregnant and Medical Exam

After studying multiple threads here and INS website, it seems I can't submit 485 at all with 693 completed.

However I'm 8 month pregnant, so I can't take X-ray if I need it. Called two doctor's office, one charge $125, another $200, but both said I can start physical but won't get the sealed envelope till everything is done.

BTW, the doctor's office said medical exam includes:
1. Physical Exam - can do now
2. 3 shots - I got proof for 2, and the other one I had it and the doctor will take my word for it
3. blood test for HIV - did it for baby already, can provide document
4. PPD/TB test - this is the one that may give me trouble. they said they need approval from my doctor to give me a skin test, if the test is positive, I need X-ray anyway. Wonder if I need to take the risk of skin test... As much as I want to start the application now, the last I want is to hurt my baby...

Anybody has any idea if I can start my application? or I have to wait till after having the baby.

Forgot to say, I don't really care how long GC takes. The reason I want to start the application is that I need EAD asap, as I plan to change job later this year...

Did you asked the doctor if you can do PPD/TB test while pregnant ?
Have you ever been given this test before? If yes, was it positive or negative ? Try to see with the doctor...

You would like to check for the main source, the civil surgeons must follow the guidelines from the CDC:

You can check out the procedure at the CDC website. Actually there is the manual for USCIS surgeons. There is a part for pregnant women. You should discuss that with your doctor.
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/civil.htm
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/health.htm

There is a LOT to read, but you can read it all. Good luck!
It is my understanding that the doctor can give you anyway a sealed envelope with instructions that you will complete the rest (Because you are pregnant) later on. But you must make the follow up so you can take the rest later on and got another sealed envelope by the time of the interview.

Make sure

I believe you should call USCIS and make sure that you really have to send the I-693 form with the AOS package. Why I say that? Y used to work for an immigration lawyer and I was in charge of the adjustment of status process; all the applications we sent we did it without the I-693 form and they were accepted. I, myself when sent my package did it without it because I called USCIS and they told me that depending of the state you have to send the I-693 and here in the NY area it was not required at the moment of filing, but of course at the moment of the interview you have to take it.
Also keep in mind that if you send the I-693 at the moment of filing is possible that you have to take and updated one for the AOS interview.

This "WAS" true before the chicago lockbox/NBC came into existence. I-693 was required only at the time of the interview.

The procedure has changed with the introduction of NBC and it is now required to submit the I-693 with the AOS package at the time of filing. Many here can vouch for the fact that they recevied an RFE because they were told I-693 is not needed at the time of filing the AOS application. An RFE can significantly delay the processing of your application and this includes a delay in your EAD approval as well.

Bottomline: As per instructions on the forms, the I-693 has to be submitted with the rest of the forms else an RFE will be issued.

Thank you all for your replies. Here's my update:
1. Called my OB office asking about if I can do a PPD/TB test. the answer is yes.
2. Then I called the Civil Surgeon office to discuss the option Cherr1980 proposed: "It is my understanding that the doctor can give you anyway a sealed envelope with instructions that you will complete the rest (Because you are pregnant) later on. But you must make the follow up so you can take the rest later on and got another sealed envelope by the time of the interview." They agreed to do that.
3. I made an appointment with Civil Surgeon this Friday. They said they need an approval letter from my OB for skin test.
4. Just called OB office and they did the letter for me. Tomorrow I will pick it up.

I'm glad I kinda found a solution with your help, instead of wasting months. Many thanks! I will keep you guys posted about the result Friday.

I have just been through this... There is a lot of info on pregnancy, the medical exam, and AOS in the adjudicators field manual.

Basically, a skin test for TB is safe (it is very common for an OB Dr to give you this test on your first pregnancy visit). If it is reactive, then you should not get an Xray until after you give birth. No vaccinations should be given, especially any live ones like MMR or varicella. If you need a vaccination, then the Dr should fill out a supplemental form to I-693 and note you are pregnant and that you are eligible for a blanket waiver.

Then the Dr will give you the sealed envelope with all these forms that you send it.

When your interview happens, if you still need anything more on your medical, the adjudicator will hold your application until about a month after you deliver.

Just got the sealed envolope!

Here's my experience in case somebody is in the same situation:

Went to the doc's office that charges $125 :p, give them OB's approval letter of TB skin test. The nurse checked blood pressure, weight etc. The nurse still got my blood becoz they need to check another thing, s....? She gave me the skin test. Then I saw the doctore. he checked my basic movements etc. The whole process took 1.5 hr.

3 days later, I went back for result of skin test. The nurse said the result is positive.

A few days later, I checked with the doctor's office, they said they're still waiting for blood work result from the lab.

A few days later, the blood work is back, they're preparing paperwork for the doctor to sign.

Yesterday they called me saying the envelope is ready. Today I picked it up. I just need to go back for an X-ray after delivering the baby. Then they will give me another envelope.

Thank you all for your help! Now I'm finalizing all forms and hope to submit my application before April. Then I have to file my tax......

I had similar problem, I started my AOS process when I was 2 months pregnante, I did not take the TB test (skin or x-rays) but the doctor gave me a sealed enveloped where he explained that because of my pregnancy I was not given this test.

When I did my interview (feb 17th) I had other problems with my previous divorce so I was not granted at that time the GC, but this week I received the notice of approval for the I485 and I130. So, it seems that they waived the TB test after all and I don't have to take it at all now (so my lawyer said).
