Hi,

Does any one know how can I carry my wife's passport along with me to USA for Canadian PR stamping? The thing is we were in USA when we applied for Canadian PR in 2004 but I'm in India these days on a business trip/family emergency. Is it possible if I simply carry my wife's passport to USA along with me for stamping and come back and later directly fly to Canada to do other formalities? Please advise. The only information I could get online is that 'Passport should always be either in your own custody or in the custody of a person duly authorized by you.' Any ideas or suggestions who can help me with the format/procedure for the authority letter etc.

Thanks
Deep

You can carry her passport with you

You can carry her passport with you to US. But you need to get a letter from her authorizing you to carry the same. It is not a problem at all. We did the samething earlier and had no problems

If it is ok with you, could you tell me the format and like was it on a stamp paper or ?? did you consult a lawyer on this?

Thanks
Deep

Hello!
I am living in U.S and my wife is currently in India. I applied from us and my case is in Detroit office. We did our medical in India for the Canadian Immigration 2 monthes ago. I am waiting for my PPR letter. In maintime I bring my wife's passport with me. When they send me the letter, I have to take her passport with me for stamping. Do, I need a authorizing letter to carry her passport. if it is How it would be like will be on Stamp paper or Just normal paper with a signature on it.
Please let me know if u have information about it.
Thanks
