PP Stamping question

I saw my 485 approval on Dec 29 on the USCIS website and also got email for the same.
Since I have to travel out of the country in early Jan, is it possible to get the PP stamping done without the approval letter sent by USCIS?

I have already taken an appointment at Newark center in anticipation of my approval letter.

Has anyone got any experience with such a scenario?

I got letter in mail withing 3-4 days after i saw the online status. I would take a print out of the online approval and with air tickets if you don't receive it by that date.

I got my Approval letter today!
However, my lawyer got the original and I have got a copy.

Do we need the original in order to get the stamping or my copy will do?

I have got 2 appointments in Newark - 10th and 11th Jan one for me and other for my wife. Since I was not sure if these guys will accept both together on 1 appointment, I took another one as a backup.

Has anyone got any clear directive if 1 appointment is sufficient for the family or not?

The courtesy copy would do fine. Mostly you would need both appointment notices for yourself and wife, but you can try. Depends on the USCIS center. At my place (Sacramento) they are very strict of having one appointment notice for each person in a family.
