PP Stamping at Newark, NJ

I got my PP stamped at Newark, NJ (AD: 01/23/03).

For those planning to go for stamping -
This has been posted before but I will just reiterate -

If you have not gone to the office in Newark before, that Federal bldg has several entrances.

You have to use the Orchard Street entrance when you go for stamping. (There are two prominent queues in Walnut street but those are not the correct queues for stamping). Orchard street entrance also has a little staging room so you don't have to wait in the cold.

There are no sign-boards to direct you there. It may be a good idea to ask the security/officials there before you spend time on any of those queues.

Hi Oct18_2001, Question for you

Hi Oct 18_2001,

Congratulations to you.
I am in NJ. My 485 also got approved. I have the following questions: -
1) Can we go on any day to Newark for Passport stamping?
2) What documents are needed?
3) Can we apply for SS card in the same building?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Sagar

The approval notice says Wednesday but I got mine stamped on Monday. I guess they don't encourage it but I had an urgent need to travel.

In your own interest, Wednesdays are easier. Takes anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours overall from what I have heard. It took me 6+ hours overall on Monday and the stamping officer was saying "it is so much easier on Wednesday, why did you come today?"

Documents needed are stated in the approval notice.
- Passport
- 2 Photos
- Approval notice
It may be a good idea to carry everything related to the GC to avoid going there one more time.

The EAD was not mentioned on my notice but they took it anyway.

I had applied for an Advance Parole and was approved on Jan 8. It got lost in the mail but they said "since the I-485 is approved, parole is not required anyway" and stamped it.
