Finally stamped our passports today. I was approved on May 21st but then I went on vacation and so could not do it earlier. Went to Newark INS office, reached at 8.30. Went to Room 334 as instructed on the approval notice. Had to go thru security check. On reaching room 334 I was told to go to room 136 for which you have to leave the building and go thru the back entrance. Luckily didn\'t have to go through a security check again. In room 136 they took all our documents - I-94, photographs, approval notice, EAD, advance parole, stapled them together and gave it back to us along with a token number. We also had to sign and fingerprint a form.

We then went to room 135 where we waited till our token number came up on the display. We were out at 11.15. A total of 2.45 hours.

Now on to the next step...waiting for plastic.

My case is also approved and waiting for approval letter. I might have to go to newark office.

Did they ask for courtesy copy ? Do you need courtesy copy or just the original approval letter is enough ?

The photos: Are they immigration photos (right ear showing, ...) or are they regualr passport photos (the ones you apply for a passport).

Way to go. Relax tension free life, I am sure Vaccation would have been extra special after I-485 approval.

You need ADIT style photos.

Two of my friends could stamp with the courtesy copy. So go as soon as you get your copy. You better take the ADIT ( showing right ear)style photos now and keep it ready.

Thanks for the advice. The dilemma is that we don\'t know which one we are going to receive first. We got approvals yesterday and they mailed out the letters. But my wife is leaving for india next tuesday and I would like to get the stamping done before that.

So, can I go with either the original or the courtesy copy ? I doubt about going only with the courtesy copy! Can I get little bit more info. on whether your friends were asked to provide any other documentation.

If its Newark, NJ, a courtesy copy is enough. They dont ask any question. My friends attorney has sent an official mail that he can go to INS and stamp with just his courtesy copy. He was also hesitating like you but finally went on a wednesday and within 2 hours the entire process was over.

One bit of advice. If necessary postpone your wife\'s visit to India if necessary. This is an important milestone and you need to plan out accordingly. Generally the stamping is done on wednesdays and even if you get your copy today or friday, you may be able to do only next wednesday. Anyhow you can try on other days. I am not sure.

Can you please answer this question.Depending on this, we might have to postpone my wife\'s trip to India next tuesday.

I used my original copy. The photographs are ADIT style, immigration photos. The ins office is on 970 Broad street.

I\'ve heard of ppl who used the courtesy copy and also of others who were not allowed to use courtesy copies so I guess its ur luck :)

On the advice of my lawyer I delayed stamping my passport till my family returned from India (they stayed one more month in India after my return). My lawyers reasoning was that their status being dependent, it should match my status, so had I stamped my passport I would have been on GC while my son would still be on a H4 which according to her (lawyer) might create problems in the future. She also said the chances were minimal.

The approval notice says ,Wednesday between 8 and 12. But according to postings here, many ppl have done it on other days too (any day). It might take a bit longer though.

Congrats! man Dan Dan you got approved before me but you had to take a vacation and waited couple of months.
