Folks,
PP stamped today for self & wife today at INS Arlington, VA. My details:
PD 6/99
RD 7/17
ND 8/31
FP 1/11
AD 5/29
PP 6/6
Experience was mixed. We reached at 6.45AM and stood in the line outside for 1 hr, then got inside and stodd another 1 hours in line there before getting number assigned. Then a long, tiring, exhaustive wait for 3 1/2 hrs before our number was called. overall a 6 hour business!
anycase office told us when assigning number that there is IBIS check and we\'ll try to get you stamped today, if not you\'ll have to comeback another date since all officers do not have access to this system. which we found later is true. generally they were polite and gentle.
we have many like ours getting stamped after IBIS done, it takes only 10-15 mins like others have posted here. but purely up to the officers discretion to do it or not, since there are several people waiting and they cannot take 20 mins for everyone. it is not the most efficient system.
there were case where they asked to come back in 30 days by some officers - so we kind of did not knew what\'ll happen to us.
our turn came at 12.30PM - officer told it\'ll take 30 days, however do you wish to travel, to which
we said "yes, we need to travel"
officer "when"
us "by the end of the month"
officer "it\'ll take 30 days"
us "if we get today it\'ll be great, just a request"
i think officer felt okay give these folks - they don\'t look menacing
then ran the check - it took 10 mins - meanwhile he did other things like stamping PP, taking signature, finger print. finally it was over. all well.
moral - is that IBIS check is for real and takes only 10 mins - but it is totally up to the officer if they want to do right away. be polite and , hunble nand gentle, and talk nicely (do not overdo it though), see if it works, in 90% cases it does.
good luck folks.
