PP stamped at Los Angeles Downtown...

Hi all,
We got our passports stamped at 300 N. Los Angeles Street. Here is our experience:
- From 101 South took the Los Angeles Street exit, went past the INS building which is right next to the exit on the left hand side, took a left on to Temple Street and tried to park at the parking lot on the right ($6.60 flat rate). Since the lot was temporarily closed, went back to Los Angeles Street and parked at the Los Angeles Mall right acroos the INS building ($5.00 an hr)
- There was a long security line which took us about 20 minutes to get into the building. Got into the building at 10:50AM
- Went directly to room 2050 (as per our lawyer’s suggestion)
- Presented the courtesy copies to the guard who wrote a token number in pencil on the copies, and told us that we would be called in a few minutes!
- Next, went up to the 3rd floor (directions posted) to take our ADIT photos ($10.00 for 2 photos).
- Got back at the room at 11:25AM to hear my name being called at Counter 9.
- The officer took my H1/photos/passport and Driver\'s License (for verification), was asked to sign a form and the index finger of my right hand was fingerprinted above the signature. Then he stamped my passport valid for a year and told me that I would receive my card in 11 months.
- About 10 minutes later after he stamped 2 others waiting there, called my wife\'s name (actually he had called her name just before mine, we missed it as we came back from taking the photos after that) and everything was over by 12PM!
Suggestions: - Might be better to take the ADIT photos earlier.
- Just park at the Los Angeles Mall, expensive but you don’t need to drive around looking for parking.
Thanks and good luck!

could you please provide more info?

So you arrived there around 10:30am? Which entrance did you take, the one on Los Angeles Street or the one on north side of the building (to room 1001)? Do you have an appointment? I know the entrance on Los Angeles Street (right across LA Mall) is for people who have appointment. Will the guard let you in if you come for stamping and don\'t have an appointment?

Thanks.

Took the Los Angeles Street entrance across the mall...

The guard asks only for Driver\'s License and I didn\'t have an appointment. I followed this procedure as per my lawyer\'s advice. I don\'t know if this is only a temporary phase where they let you in without appointment, my colleague did his stamping a few weeks back this way, that\'s why I decided to try it out, luckily worked for us!
Let me know if you need any more information, it\'s all fresh in my mind now...

thanks, nadodi

One last question. Why they took your H1 document? What document do you think we shall bring to the stamping? Thanks a lot for the help.

My status at the time of stamping was H1...

My EAD was never approved. Good luck! Documents are as mentioned in the approval notice. In my caes he asked for last H1, Driver\'s License, passport and photos.

Thanks a lot!

Ok, so INS actually took your last I-94, which is on your H1 approval notice. They didn\'t take documents other than those listed on 485 approval notice. Thank you for clearing it out.

Very appreciate your sharing the experience with us. It helps a lot.

ADIT photos: photos as specified in the I-485 approval notice...

which is same as the ones we send in with the I-485 application, I think.
Regards.
