Postponing the Oath !

What would one do if he received the oath ceremony while outside the country? Should I ask for postponing the oath? should i cut my vacation and pay around $500 in air ticket's penalties? And in case the USCIS could reschedule my oath, when would they schedule it again? would it go to the next available oath date, or would it take longer than that? Any similar experience will me much appreciated. Thank you.
 
i personally would cut the vacation short and do whatever it takes to get back to US and attend to the oath. unless it is a medical reason, i won't let myself miss the oath.

it is really hard to say when would the next available oath if you need to reschedule thou. if you waited 3 months to schedule an available oath appointment after your interview (assuming, nothing was pending, just trying to get an empty slot for oath), may be about the same wait time? but i see it could be longer (just my guess).
 
If at all possible DO NOT miss your appointment. Otherwise you will have to wait some more time for your appointment. And that could be months.
