Guys

I have posted this before with no response. Trying again. I have to take up an year long assignment in NY and I dont want to keep my apartment in Texas. Since I already filed my 485 this march giving my current texas address, I plan apply for an address change to my friends house who lives permenantly in texas. This way I dont have to move my papers to NY (fear of losing on transit) or keep my apartment in texas where I wont be living for the next year. Could someone tell me if this is ok? I dont see any problem coz I still am a texas regional employee. Any help will be greately appreciated

thanks

vinod

Change of addresss

For INS change of address is a material fact, therefore you should inform them of your change of address. If you give your friend address as your new address and INS find this out, you might have a problem. I believe they call this fraud.

Correction..I am moving into my friends place. Fact is I wont be physically present in his house at all times due to my client engagement. BUt otherwise all my belongings are there in his place..Now how is this a fraud?

Vinod, just give a change of address to your friend\'s place. This is a problem with consultants and I found out that many of them are giving some permanent address as their own address ..since giving a change of address in every 4-5 months will only delay the 485 process.

Don\'t take this as a legal advice..Anyway its better to give this changed address for your payslip also.

Thank you. Yes I have made the payroll address change also to make sure the W2 forms go the permanent address. By the way, what is the procedure to make such address change with INS? I understand there a form to fill in at the Stemmons Freeway office. Any suggestions?

Another option is to call INS office and give the address change..which may be more difficult, right?

Vinod,
Your need to fill in the form AR-11 to inform INS about your
change of address. The official texas service center web site
below has the acrobat version of the form that you can download.

http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/ar-11.htm

It is a simple 1 page form which includes your new and old
address along with some of your personal information

Secondly, You could also call the IIO at TSC and inform them
about your change of address.

I have the AR-11 form. I presume I should be mentioning that I am here on H1. What should I mention on the Date Of Expiry of my Stay in US? My H1 will expire next month and I will be in EAD after that? Should it be the Expiration Date on the EAD? Or is my status "Adjustment Applicant - Perment Resident" . Correct me here

thanks again

Address Change to Nebraska center

I have already submitted my I-485 to TSC in April. I received my receipt in June. However, my company transferred me from South Carolina to headquarters in Michigan. I have the same job position and boss. I was wondering if I should do the forward address change, from TSC to NSC and if there are any risk losing my file in transit. How big of a risk is there in losing my file. Has anyone been in this position, or lost their file.

If I do the forward address change, how do I track this. I\'m afraid TSC will say they sent it and NSC say they haven\'t received the file. Is there an option of doing nothing and hope the post office will forward my letter to my current address?
