Hi there,

I have been a permanent resident since Dec. 31, 2004, so I am eligible to apply for citizenship now. I plan on sending in my application on Monday. I got the green card through my parents. I am a little unsure of how to answer a very basic question on the application:
Under the first question in Part 2 which reads something along the lines of:

"I am 18 years old and:
a) I have been a lawful permanent resident for at least five years,
b) I have been a lawful pernanent resident for 3 years and am married to an American,
c) I am applying on the basis of military service,
d) Other"

Should I check a) for my application, or should I check d and explain that I have been a permanent resident for 5 years minus 90 days (or 4 years and 9 months)?

I realise this is probably a very obvious question, but I want to be as careful as possible with my application. So please help! I'm sure many of you have applied on the same basis as I will be.

Thanks!
Jo-Anne

I think you should choose (a)
[they know about the 90 day rule, so i don't think you need to explain it]

...wait for other comments, too, though.

yes...(a)...90 days -statutory procedure...wait few days (suggest mid next week) and then apply to preempt any days calculation mismactch

You come under option A because you will be crossing 5 yrs on GC by the time the process is done. That's an option indicating that the basis of your application is 5 yrs. of GC.
