New Member
My sister sponsored my mother's green card. My sister
lives in Washington DC while I live in New York. Does
my mother have to fly into Washington DC when she flys
in for the first time because that's where my sister
(her sponsor) lives or is it okay for her to fly in to
New York where I live?

you can go to any point of entry, i live in washington state, but my POE was new york, i just happened to be there.
 
No POE can be anywhere you first land. A lot of times you don't first land into your final destination, so POE can be anywhere.

When I entered the U.S. before I had 3 different POEs for the 3 times I entered the US as a non-immigrant. When I filed for I-485 my POE was Dulles Airport, Virginia while I was living in Indiana and applied from there.
