Friends, there does not seem to be good way to find out how many users are active in 485 issues forum. Can you please cast your vote and let us know how often do you visit this forum?

4 times
every 1 hour
every 1/2 hour and every 5 mins
always open

Feels much better when you see that you're not alone in such a situation!

Interesting poll.

But I would think this will be one misleading poll. Probably only daily visitor will notice this poll and answer it. Before a weekly visitor notice this poll, this poll will bury itself in all the posts.

Don't attach any importance to the result of the poll. Just my 2 cents.

The gist of this poll (correct me if i am wrong, cosmos) is to capture no. of visitors to this CSC forum daily. If a daily visitor views this poll and votes, by the EOD it will give us a ball park idea of how many visitors (if all of them particiapte) Or majorly, how many of the daily visitors do take the pain in clicking?

I think it is really important info....
 
and added to that, so far it looks as if 1/3 of the people who view this thread have clicked to vote. Should i laugh at the results or what?

U know cosmos you have to wait for couple of months to accurately
get the result of the poll. Bcos lets say I use this site monthly then
I won't see your poll for atleast a month from now. So its not very
accurate today. Right now only daily users are clicking on it. These
kind of poll are done better by sending email to all users, but you
cannot do that.

People should be careful about reading such polls. They often have
caveats.

Needless to say that this kind of poll will not work and give useless
results. Sorry, I am kind of paranoid about stats.

This was exactly my idea.

The duration of the poll is 2 weeks. We should be able to get a sense for the number of active users by then. Not very scientific, but at least something better than nothing.

desi-bartender, I remember reading a long time ago something about stats. There are 3 kinds of lies.
1) Lies
2) Big Lies
3) Statistics :)

Stats are the biggest lies. Lots of people just read stats and take
their decisions. Very common stats lie. Newspaper giving you percentages.
Like they say 90% of the people think that way. Now the interesting thing
in stats is not percentage but weight meaning the number. If only ten people
were asked out of 10 million then 90% figure is just stupid. No?

I agree. Life changing personal decisions should not be based on some stats. But my intent for this poll was to gain a better understanding of our user community. If we know our own strengths and weaknesses, we can plan future campaigns more effectively. Thanks for your feedback.

All 485 forums combined, 189 have responded. I will post stats at the end of each day if the numbers look very different. I expect more people to vote and that is why the poll was setup for 2 weeks.

Number of views is greater than the number of votes due to:
1) Unregistered users (Guests)
2) Multiple visits by registered users
3) Some registered users deciding not to vote. Why do you not want to vote?

I know skeptics will wonder how the number of daily visitors can increase from day 1 to day 3. But I would like to believe that the increase is due to the people who normally visit daily, but for some reason missed this thread.
