I really appreciate if some one can answer to my question
about *Birth Certificate and Police certificate*.

Please don\'t ignore just because I am asking question about India based PR
these questions are common to you whoever applied in U.S also.. I appreciate your time.

One of my friend is applying Candian PR initial appliation. And it seems we need to give
Birth certificate and Police Certificate for all the places we lived more than 6 months.

For BC can he send SSLC certificate photocopy (doesn\'t have original BC) ?
or do we need affidavit of support and Non availability similar to U.S GC requirements ?

Do we need Police certificate in all the places we lived in *INDIA* more than 6 months ?

I searched this web site couldn\'t get any help at all.. No FAQ also ? Please help me..
and shouldn\'t take much of your time if you know..

Thanks a lot.

I know

Police certificate from India

I, too having been looking at applying for the Canadian PR and was looking at some of the documentation related to the police certificate.
I did come across a section where it was said that for certain countries the applicant need not provide the police certificate but the Canadian consulate will verify on the applicants behalf and India happened to be one of them.
Ofcourse if the applicant has lived/worked in US then he should get clearance from FBI for his portion of stay in US.
Thought, I would share this. Could anyone else confirm this?

you are correct

In the app kit, it specifically lists India as one country from where they will get the PC on your behalf. Make sure you include the signed waiver form with the kit (form includes places of residence in India).

but that is when you are applying in US.

As far as I know it is not required to get PC from India if you are applying at Buffalo.

Applying from within US

Correct.
Sorry, I missed stressing the point that PC from India will be obtained on applicants behalf when applying at Buffalo.
I too am applying at Buffalo.
Thanks to both of you for the confirmation.

Please clarify, gkp, in limbo, GJI

Thanks for all who responded to my question. But
I am getting confused here. Could you please clarify again for me:

My friend is in _India_ and never worked outside _India_ and applying
canadian PR from India. So my question is
1. Is it required to obtain PC in his case ?
(some one said it is not required and mentioned in application.
I searched for this in applicaiton I haven\'t got that. Could you please pass pointer
where it stated that for India it is not required:

2. Birth Certifcate can one submit thier SSLC certificate if they don\'t have original BC ?

Thanks a lot for your time again..,

1. Yes, he should get PC from India. 2. Yes you need to get a birth certificate.

You cannot use SSLC Cert. If you cannot get it, then you need to get certificate of unavailability.

Police certificate

1) If applying in India, it is applicants responsibility to produce the PC from India.
The general rule is if your are applying for Canadian PR in country A then it is applicants responsibility to provide the PC from country A.
2) SSLC CANNOT be used as a substitute for a Birth certificate.
