Hi,

I'm a US citizen and am in the process of filing the DS-230 for my wife in India. I have a question regarding how many police certificates I would need. Since turning 16, my wife first lived in Delhi, India for 4 years and then for the past 5 years has lived in Chandigarh, India (where she currently resides). Given this, I have a few questions:

1)Would she only need 1 police certificate from Chandigarh, India where she currently resides? Or would she need a police certificate from Delhi, India also?
2) With regards to the police certificate - is it issued by the local passport office or does she have to get something from the police as well?
3) Who provides the police certificate? Is it the passport office or the police? Or does one have to get clearance certificates from both the passport office and the police?
4) How long after the DS-230 is processed does one get an interview call? This case if for the Delhi consulate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only one Police certificate is required form the regional passport office. None required form any police station.
Expect 1-2 months for interview. Do you have approved I-130?

Hi,

Yes the I-130 has been approved. The I-864 EZ has also been approved. I'm just confused on what police documents are required from India.

So if i'm hearing you right, no police records are required from Delhi, where my wife lived for 4 years after she was 16? The ONLY police certificate that is required is from the regional passport office in Chandigarh?
