Hi Gurus !

I am in the process of putting together all the required documents to apply for immigration to canada. During the course of this, I have come across a document that I downloaded that is a check list of all the documents that are to be submitted for the process.

I have questions about few of them

1.) Transcripts - Do we need to get these transcripts from the universities or copies enough. Its clearly mentioned I need transcripts but my friend applied for immigration(through attorney) and he got his landing papers. So please share your knowledge with us

2.) Police Clearance certificate: The document again mentions that police clearance certificate is needed from all countries that I lived after 18 yrs. In my case I have lived in India util four years ago(I came here 4 yrs ago). The same document mentions that if we are residents of India and some other countries we need not provide the Police clearance certificate as the Embassy will do it themselves(my friend informs me they will ask for it from u later so you go and get it yourself).

3). Do I have to provide the ceritified transcripts and Police clearance certificates during my initial applicatio? or after they inform me of their evaluation?

4) In case of 1 & 2 do I have to take the same for my wife too.

Thanks for reading this post and replying to me

--> It's better to attach ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPTs in UNIVERSITY / COLLEGE SEALED ENVELOPE for main as well as co-applicant.

--> You can send your application without Indian Police Clearance Certificate. Let them ask for it.

Thanks.

1. My husband and I just attached the copies since original transcripts from India will take forever to come. And we did fine, they did not ask for originals. Yes attach your wife's transcripts too.

2. You don't need to get Indian police clearance. They will ask u for FBI clearance at the time of final processing. So its not necessary to attach it with the initial application. Though you will need to attach your copy of transcripts with the initial application.

Good Luck
