Police clearance certificates for canada PR application

Hi,

I'm intending to apply for Canadian Immigration as a backup for my US green card. I need to apply to the Buffalo, NY office and one of their requirements is police certificates from India as well as the US. The form implies that the certificates have to be sent in along with the application but I don't want to wait till I receive the certificates. I would prefer to apply right away and then send them the certificates later when I receive them from the US and India. Is this allowed? Has anyone on this forum done this?

Secondly, could someone enlighten me on the exact procedure to get the police clearance certificates from India. I was told that an Indian consulate here in the US needs to be involved somewhere in the process but I don't know the specifics so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Hi
For me I got the PCC from the Passport office in my state in India.
You need to fill up a form , stick a recent passport size pic on it and submit it with a fee of Rs 300.
It took just one morning.
And some times the Indian Consulates do this for a fee.
I have had friends in NY and LA do that. Took about two weeks I think.
