Hi ,
Is it definite that one has to get PCC only thru Indian Consulate or can we get PCC directly from India on our own ? Please clarify .

Thanks
Naveen

If you are in the US for at least 6 months, and would be in the US until just before your interview, its much more convenient to get PCC from Indian Consulate. You always have the option of going to India, and staying there for at least a month and get all your PCCs (one from regional passport office, and one from every police station of EVERY PLACE you have resided in for at least 6 months, from the age of 16). The second option requires you to be present in India, as the passport office would ask for your original passport.

Agree with the above. It's a great convinence that this headache can be gotten over with in US as opposed to the procedure described above.

I will get the PCC from Indian Consulate for me .As my spouse is in India on Vacation at present ,is it Okay is she gets her PCC from local Indian passport office .

Please clarify .

Thanks

I replied to your issue in the other thread. Try convincing your attorney to go without PCC or just your PCC. You can apply for your wife's PCC and then send the original passport when she comes back to US (Mind you do not mention that she's not in US).

Don't even think about getting PCC's from India, I had a togh time going to places and greasing the monkey's. Although I obtained it + made good contacts for the coming generation I would STRONGLY recommend to bypass this option if you can.

{ How Long is she is India, if it is less than a month or two then better send her photocopies of her passport along with duly filled misc. form to Indian consulate near by you and as stated in your above post do not mention she is in India. }

Thanks
