Police Clearance Certificate in US

Hi,

Could anyone please calrify the following?

To obtain Police Clearance Certificate while living in the US, do I need to submit my passport to Indian Consulate?

If so, is there a way we can get PCC without submitting it? i.e by (personal appearance in the office etc.,)

{Certainly. There are two ways how you do this .

a) Send the application, along with your PASSPORT. Wait
for them to take a decision, and send you the PCC along
with the passport (They also put a notation in your PP) .

OR

b) Send the application, with COPIES OF ALL PAGES OF
PASSPORT. Wait till they are ready to issue the PCC.
Then make a personal visit to the consulate with your
passport. They will then stamp the passport and hand
you the PCC. This is a 1 day service, i.e. you submit
in the morning and you get it back the same day at
around 3.00 or 4.00PM.
