How can I find out if employer cancelled the H1b after the layoff? Is this something an employer will usually do after the layoff?

I have all H1b approval notice show continus history of employemnt. I will be using AP travel outside of US soon, and not sure if there is any risk at POE for the period of "illegal staying" in US?

Anyone has similar situation travel using AP and come back safely?
