Dear all:

I won the diversity lottery in 1998 and now is eliglible to file for citizenship however my husband was denied visa at the time eventhough he was on the form that I won the lottery with. The immigration officer said she was not convinced that I was married despite the marriage cert, pictures etc.

Is there anything I need to know/ do as I file for citizenship this March to ensure my husband is not denied again. I intend to go back to my country and file for him as soon as I get my citizenship.

Thanks for ur response.

Janet26101, I am sorry about your husbands rejection.

Regarding marriage, I suggest take "affidavits" from elders who attended your marriage. This may help to prove your marriage is bonafide.

Other things that might prove that you have been in marriage is by providing proof of joint bank accounts, joint property records (like house, cars, etc), joint investment accounts, kids (if you have any), credit cards account with both names, and any other source of information that proves that you have been living like husband and wife.

Good Luck in your efforts.

Thanks.
