Dear All,

The status on my and my family's cases changed on July 31 (on a Saturday???). The message is totally weird. Don't know if it is approved or denied.

A little background - I had recd RFEs for my wife and son 3 weeks back, which I responded to 2 weeks back. USCIS recd my responses last week. The message now talks about USCIS's response to my request.

What would this mean?

Thanks,

i also got the same status change

i also got the same status change message today for my wife. About 2 wks back my wife had called them to ask for the status. Not sure this is what it is or it's an RFE. Can anyone tell this is an RFE or what?

Thanks
nath

Me too

But I have raised a query about something more than 30 days back for which
USCIS responded. It is not RFE in my case.

I just realized, it could be for my 2nd FP. My first FP expired on July 15 (incidentally the RFEs were generated on July 7). Did you guys face a similar situation?

I have noticing the LUD change with the same message -
On xxxxx, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. If you have not received our response within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Initially i thought its for my 2nd FP, however i havent received anything yet. Moreover why r they changing the dates every alternate day ? Probably someone's kid is playing around pressing some update buttons.

I called the 800 number and spoke to a service rep. After listening to me, she put me on hold to confer with a specialist. She got back to me saying that it is a typo and that it should actually say that they received the response to their request etc.

Well, then there are 2 questions - why would they need to update the status twice (once on 07/26 when they recd the response to the RFE and another on 07/31), and why should they update the status on my case (since there was no RFE on my case)? Obviously, the rep had no answer to these questions.

I have a feeling that a decision might have been made, and then while updating the status, the IIO selected the wrong standard response from the drop down list of values. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed till I receive the actual response in the mail.

Golumolu,

You could be right. I just called the 800 number. The automated message says that case status cannot be found for me or my family members. From what I have seen on this forum in the past, this is usually a precursor to approval.

Thanks

Even after stamping, I got this today.

AP 7-2-04.
Stamping 7-13-04.

we never had any RFE, never responde to any RFE, but spouse got the same massage.

Now, I get this message -

'The status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center.'

This suspense is killing me.

Would you take a couple of days break and relax with a deep breath. Stop this addiction, it is not good for you. Nothing is going to happen by you pounding on this website. Folks at USCIS are going to work as they please, but recently they seem to be responsive in random cases when people called them.

Hence sincere humble request, "yes suspense is killing" so give it a go by for a couple of days and try checking it may be early next week.

Obviously it has taken them this long unecessarily but is there anything you could do to speed it up apart from calling and faxing them (which you have done). You are only ruining your mental and physical health by giving more priority to this one during your day's work.

Hence relax friend, you are going to get your approval shortly it is only matter of time.

At the risk of inviting another 'just relax' response from Golomolu, the statuses on my and my family's cases returned to normal, i.e. 'On April 15, 2003 we received the results of your fingerprint...' for me and 'On July 26, 2004 we received your response to our request...' for my wife and son. The LUD had changed to 08/10/2004.

Something is definitely cooking in the BCIS pot

please just mind you own business and leave ppl alone if not offering help.

You please mind your business NIW whoever you are. I have provided what my experience was in the same or equivalent scenario.

If you cannot take it you don't have to. It is an open forum and everyone can provide their views. You don't have to boss around ordering people.

Good Luck

You are not taking any risk and you are welcome to do whatever you want, I just provided my experience and thought it would be better of to divert attention from daily checks here. You don't have to heed to my views if you don't agree.

if any inconvenience were caused it was not intentional.

Good Luck

That is what I meant when I said you probably should shortly hear a approval on your case, since some officer is apparently working on your case from the movement.

Cheers
