Pls help! Stuck in background check for my j1 waiver

Hi guys,
I hired a lawyer and started my j1 waiver process after successfully locating an IM job in LSU medical center. The whole process began in Oct 2008, and I've been stuck in a 'background check' by US department of State for over two months. We (I and my lawyer) called several times to the customer service but people who took our calls refused to provide any information regarding the timeline of the security check on my case. Now I'm getting desperate as my new job has been delayed for over a month and I can't do anything about it. Anyone has any idea of how much longer the 'background check' will last and if there is any way that can possibly help to speed up the process (like writing a complain letter, etc)?

Get a higher level admin in your hospital to contact your congressman or senators office with all the information in hand. Federal agencies HAVE to respond to congressional inquiries and try to stay out of the firing line of legislators that are peeved about their constituents being deprived of medical services.
