Pls advise: RD Aug 2002

Hi Guys,

After initiating the enquiry at BCIS, I have received the following response:

"The processing of your petition/application has been delayed. All petitions/applications received by this service are required to have a routine security checks that are resulting in delays of the adjudication of petitons/applications. As a result of lack of manpower to complete the checks in a timely manner, we have no control over how long these checks will take. We can give no definite indication of when they will be completed. We aplogize for the delay."

I have contacted the local Congress man, but they straight way said they cannot help since it is pending a background check at FBI. I have emailed to Mr. Hardy a month ago and haven't heard from him yet.

I don't know how long I have sit to get clear from the FBI. If any one of you can answer one or all of the below questions, I will really appreciate.

Q1: Did anyone of you have recieved similar response after initiating the enquiry at BCIS?

Q2: Are there anyone left with the same RD (Aug 2002) and still waiting to clear background check?

Q3: Did anyone who were in the same boat but seek the assistance of local senator or congress man for the clearence? If yes, please post your explaination, so that I can convince my congress man to do something?

Q4: What else can I do guys? I want to change the job, wife is in Philly and I am in CT. Commute is horrible and is effecting my performance at work. Don't know what to do, little scared to switch the job at this point.

Please advise guys.

Same situation

I am in similar situation except that I am a April 2002 filer. 2nd FP expiring in a month. Got the same response from USCIS, no Congressional help was offerred. Wife's name check cleared two years ago, mine is still pending. No word from the FBI after repeatd fax, email and phone calls.

Sorry to hear about your long commute. In my case, the wife yells at me daily because of ordeal.


Don't know what to do and cannot offer you any constructive advice. Take comfort in the thought that you are not alone and there are quite a number of early 2002 cases still pending.

I recd the same response but got approved 3 weeks later

I received the same response to my inquiry except instead of security checks they mentioned FP checks. I filed EAD and AP while waiting for a response to my inquiry and I got approved 3 weeks after receiving inquiry response.

I got the same response also mentioning FP checks. We know they have received the FP results from FBI long time ago.

I do not know how serious these inquiry reponses are. Some people got similar response even when they have already got approved (who send inquiries before knowing were approved).

My guess is, there is/are someone check the online status like us then generate these general responses based when shown on the online message. I could be wrong but it seems the only logic explanation.
