Hello people, I have been a member in the forum for sometime. thanks for all the valuable responses and suggestions.
I am planning to apply for Canadian PR under skill worker category. However, i am not sure if i should apply now, and if i am counting my points in right way. I am putting all my details based on those points categories.
Please help me understdning the the total point i will be getting fo those categories and also what would be the best time and way to apply for this.
Factor 1 – Education
(maximum 25 points)
I have a Bachelors of Science in Business Economics and minor in Computer Science from the university of texas. Currently Enrolled in MA/MS program for Economics and Finance with a expected graduation date in December 2006 at the same university. If i count my HS education, i have almost 18 years of full time equivalen studies.
My questions are:
1) Am i getting 22 point now? It says "Two or more bachelors degress at the unversity level" - I have one degree in bachelors level and a minor.
2) Also, do i get additional point for my masters eduaction when completed? or that doesnt matter?
Factor 2 – English and French language ability
(maximum 24 points)
I have completed all college level education in USA. Attemped TOEFL long back and had 600 on paperbased which is expired now ofcourse. French i had in my HS.
My Questions are:
1) Do i need to take the IELTS? If so, can i take it after i claim my proficiency on language in the application? I meant, can i turn in the application now and then submit them the score whenever i recieve it? I have a friend with similar background applied for Canadian PR, but never had to take IELTS. However, it took him 3 years almost to get it. Please confirm.
2) I want to claim that i have basic proficiency in French. Where i can take TEF test? Is there any testing center in USA, specially in texas? please advise.
3) In the immigration website, they have said, We can provide "any written documents to support our claim" about the language ability. What are those? Even if i am planning to take the test if necessary, i want to apply ASAP.
Factor 3 – Work Experience
(maximum 21 points)
I have a one year of work experience when i was in college,. through internship as a Junior financial analyst(4 monthes part time and 8 monthes full). Then after my bachelors i have worked 13 monthes (full time) as a Financial Manager with the same company on my OPT. And currently i am employed by university as a Teaching Assistant, which is part time. and i have that for 4 monthes now.
My Questions are:
1) Should i claim that i have more than 2 years and less than 3 years expereince? I can get the reference letter for my jobs. the first two jobs were with the same company and the last one is with the my university. What i need to turn in when i claim that i have worked more than 2 years (13+8 = 21 monthes full and 4 monthes + 4 monthes = 8 Part/2= 4 monthes full, which equals to 25 monthes full.
2) I am currently employed also, i have the last paystub from my current employer and also some copies form my last employers. should i submit them? or just the current employer?
3) I didnt file tax return for my job on the first year when i was in college as i wasnt aware of that thing. My international advisor told me that i never had to. however, i did for the second job (13 monthes) and currently. will that matter? Tax papers are mandatory in this matter?
Factor 4 – Age
(maximum 10 points)
this should be ok. I am 25.
Factor 5 – Arranged Employment
(maximum 10 points)
Nothing arranged.
Factor 6 – Adaptability
(maximum 10 points)
Single. However i do have some reatives in canada.
My Questions are:
1) One of them are my uncle (not blood realted, but close family personal) who is willing to sponsor me, if needed in this case. What is his eligibilIty factor in this matter, what he needs to provide to support the claim that i have family in canada.
Finally...
Any suggestions when to apply? i want to take advantage of this 67 points rule as i am hearing words from my freidns in canada that they are going o change is preety soon. Please advise.
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR TAKING TIME TO READ THIS MAIL. YOUR HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
