Please share your EAD renewal experience - I need your help

My current EAD is going to be expired on 08/02/03. My EAD renewal application was sent in on 05/02/03. I haven't got the receipt notice yet, but I expect the received date to be definitely later than 05/02/03. So my situation now is I don't have 90 days when my current EAD expires. It's a long story how I got myself into this situation.Basically my lawyer screwed me up.

Please share your experience, I desperately want to know if I still have a chance to get the approval notice before my current EAD expires ? what's my options if I don't ? :mad:

Bud, nothing to worry about. Hopefully your renewal will come through in time so there will not be any problems. In the case you don't get your EAD by 8/2/2003 you could take a leave of absence till the day your 90 days are up and then get an interim EAD. Please remember that you are always in legal status when you have a pending I485. The only thing the EAD allows you to do is work since it is a work authorization document. I have known people who have done this before.

I was in the same if not worse situation than you...

My EAD was to expire Mar 18 2003 and I sent my renewal Jan 11 2003.

All I did was pray and curse my lawyer during that harrowing time.

Finally I got my EAD approval Mar 3 2003 and my card a week after that!


If you are on h1 you are ok...if you are on ead...you cannot work if your ead expires...you can ask the company if you can take unpaid leave(no benefits ...nothing) till you get the ead renewal.

Worst case...apply for new h1 with company...go outside country...stamp and come back

So in worse case, I don't have to terminate my employment with my current employer, I can just take a couple of days unpaid leave ?

That is correct...though clarifiy with lawyer.
 
My ead was renewed in < 65 days

I send in my ead in 2/26/03 and got my card on 4/28/03.. There are good chances that you will get your EAD in time
 
Was in similar situation

EAD was to expire May 19.
EAD renewal ND Feb 25 online, Feb 19 on the belated notice
EAD renewed Apr 26.

You should be okay
 
I talked to an IIO again who said my EAD application was in process. She also said I should try back in two weeks. My interim one expires next month, and if the case is still not adjudicated, I will try to get it renewed. For all others out there, please, please do not delay in filing for your EAD. Do it a MINIMUM of 90 days in advance of your required date. If possible do it 6 months before. This should be a routine process yet, I'm loosing sleep over it. Do not procastinate like me (although I did file 120 day in advance). I will update when I have details.

Interim EAD expires 6/4/03

Hopefully online application for EAD, AP etc that is going to be implimented from the end of this month should see substantial improvement in service in this area.
 
Dont worry. You will just be fine. The NSC officers are very nice !

My 6 year limit was commming to an end and I applied to EAD 45 days. Got approved in 32 days with the card. I think they give some preference to these types of cases.
