Hello, to you all. I hope every body is doing excelent.
I'm happy to see that many cases are moving with USCIS.
I have one question in which I would like to have your opinion:
I planned to meet with my parents in a third country far from my COP, on next june for two weeks. My wife and myself are GC holders and my son is US citizen. My wife's and mine passport from COP still valid until 2011.
I called to 1-800 and went twice to infopass to ask if we need to get RTD to be able to come back to USA even if we have a valid passport from our original country? All three answers were " you are now a legal permanent resident, the only documents that you'll need to reentry USA are your GC and valid passport; if your passport is expired then you need to get RTD". I know that it sounds clear, but what do you guys think about this?
I'm just so confused beacuse all those new sheets about NP and RTD.
I'll really appreciate any advice.....................

I think if you use your NP you're using some kind of benefits of your COP.
But I don't know, Im not gonna use my NP, never. I just realize that live in this country cost me too much, and I don't want to risk of my status. I don't want to start over.

My advice to you apply for RP or RTD. Apply for visa of third country to see your parents.

Good luck!

Relax. You are fine. First of all your NP is still valid and even if you renewed your NP, as long as you don't go back to COP, you won't raise any heads.

Look the thing is, USCIS doesn't like fraud. Your case is genuine right? Your asylum is valid so stop worrying, use your NP & go and meet your parents. You do not need to get a RTD or RP in my opinion.

Just keep a record of your infopass meeting with USCIS and also reason for your visit just in case.

I think you are fine so don't worry...Enjoy your trip. If you have done nothing wrong, there is nothing to be scared about. Keep that in your head always.

i called the 1800 number again(i have called so many times so far)i asked them the same thing even today they told me a million times they urge to use my NP eventhough it is expired they told me go ahead and renew you wont have any problems.this is the msg i got from them.So i plan to use my NP for any travel.

if your GC based from asylum , my suggestion is you need to apply advance parole or re entry permit.
you may follow my suggestion or you may ignore it.
thats just my 2 cent

you don't need advance parole you need RTD or reentry permit

I think that i might just use my national passport...............
1. I'm not traveling to or near to my COP.
2. The country that we are going does'nt requiere visa for US RESIDENTS, so we are getting in and out as a Legal Residents not as a citizens of my COP; which i think means that we are not using any priviliges from our COP.
3. I'll reunite all the proof that we are not going to my COP, and those are just vacations to get reunite with parents that doesn't break any rule about getting CG through asylum.
Hopefully this will be enough in case of any questioning at citizenship interview.
Ahh, almost forgot......... also as a proof af my vacations place i'll bring a real picture a Bob Marley with my family..............:D That might works?:D
