I'm a canadian PR living in Canada and as well as doing consular processing.
I need to visit US urgently before consular interview. If I apply for a visitor visa, will that affect my immigration petition i.e. ongoing consular process?
as long as you properly disclose that you are applying for an immigrant visa. The likely scenario is that you may be refused a visitor's visa; but if they realize that you are definitely immigrating legally and you can show a valid reason for the visit, they may issue a visitor's visa, but the chances are slim. However, applying for a B visa does not harm your GC process!
