If anyone has a similar experience or any advice I would love to hear from you.

I filed my aos papers a few months ago and have gotten to the point where I have my interview date. I only realized when I was reading this forum about interview preparation that I might have made a mistake that will effect my case.

When filling out all of the forms I put my maiden name as my last name and my married name under "other names used". I did this because my maiden name is what is on my passport and I figured that is the one I should put.

I called the 800 number and was told that the officer at my interview might be able to change this or I can wait til I get the green card and change it then.

So I'm now wondering if the officer at the interview will think it is suspicious that I filed under my maiden name (even though all my supporting evidence, like back accounts and insurance etc., have my married name on it)? Also should I bring this mistake to the officer's attention right away or wait til he/she notices it themselves?

Please advise. I am very worried about this whole thing. Even though my marriage is legit, I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks all.

Relax ---- I do not see a problem at all. You have a very rational explanation and the important thing is that you listed the other name under "other names". That means that they did security checks on all your names, so hopefully the officer can just change it at the interview. Just be honest and explain it ---- I cannot see any big problems. At the very worst, you may have to reorder the card once it arrives.

Thanks for your help. That really put my mind at ease. Now I can concentrate on preparing for the interview!!!
