I talked about the same thing with my attorney, he said if that INS centre offers that service you can get it from there by showing the reciept of I-485, otherwise you have to go the office which offers that service for your case. You have to talk to the INS(Newark).

no, I did not mean that, for me the INS office in my work area is a small one(sub-office). INS office should be able to give you the location where you can get your EAD, I don\'t think you can get in any office you want. But, in genuine cases like yours with I-485 reciept you should be able to get EAD within a day. You should talk to the INS officer. Theay usually close at 1 pm. you have to go early in the morning(there will be large queues even before the office opens). Good luck
