please help! where to get my interim EAD?

Please guys, give me some idea here.

I submitted my I-485 based on NIW approval 1.5 year ago to Vermont Service Center. Recently I moved to California. I submitted my EAD application (I-765) to VSC a week ago. My question is if I don't get my EAD approval in 3 months, can I go to California local INS office to get an interim EAD? My concern is, since my case files are still with VSC (I guess, since no one send me anything saying that my case was transfered, although I did change the address to my California one with both calling 1-800 number and calling VSC), will the California local office process my i-EAD request? If they don't, which office should I go in order to apply for an interim EAD?

yes - you can get your i-EAD at your nearest local office. Just bring your receipt notices for the I-485 and I-765 with you.

thank you. however, I checked with a lawyer here and he siad since my 485 was not transfered to California Center, I can't go to the local office here. really confused anyone with/saw others with the same experience? Thank you!
