I hold a j1 visa and I recently got a job offer but I don`t need to change my visa status since I will be working in US less than the duration of academic training.

I talked to the International Student Office and they told me that I have to start academic training right after the commencement which didn`t make much sense. The problem is that the commencement is on June 5 and the starting date for the job is August 10, so I have to wait for two months. I already accepted the job offer and I am very anxious about the situation. I would appreciate any information related to my problem.

The International Student Office is your best resource. Talk to the director rather than one of the aassistants if you have not already done so. Your other alternative is to take a consultation with an attorney to review all of your paperwork.
