Please Help - Strange situation

Hi, I am sorry if I am posting this in wrong forum. But my situation is quite strange. I am on H1 since Oct 2007. Before that I was a student (F1) and I completed my Master here. Now I want to start MBA as a part time but after 6 months, I want to do it as a full time.

My question is - can I change my status from H1 to F1 in middle of the course? Or I have to change from begining?

And I heard that if I change status to F1 and then come to H1, my remaining H1 period will start from the year where I stopped it, no need to apply again for H1, is it true??

I will appreciate your help. Thanks

You have to be on F-1 to start the course. H-1B visa is for employment only. Later, upon course completion, you can revert to H-1B status.

Actually since he'll be part time and still working full time, he can start the course while still being on H1.

I"m assuming you can change your status in the middle, but I have no background/experience/example to know this for sure, it just makes sense.

Thank you guys,

if you get more information on that, please let me know. My situation is, my project will done by end of april 2009. So after that if it is possible, I want to change to F1.

Thanks again for your help. More help will appreciate.

Looking at your dates, my take is, you need an F-1 effective from May 2009. You may start the course before that but it's your responsibility to work with your employer and study at the same time. Later, you may revert to H-1B and this will probably not be quota subjected.

Thanks for your great information guys,

I tried to search but I couldn't find out any legal document which stats that one can change status to F1 in the mid of study. It would be great if anybody upload a link for that. Also if anybody knows about the procedure that how I can change stutus, Please let me know. It would be your great help. I am really appreciate your help.
